Industry: Telecom
Initiative: Inventory Optimization
Challenge
A major telecom carrier faced significant supply chain inefficiencies, resulting in overestimated inventory levels at key warehouses and unnecessarily high costs for expedited shipping to compensate for slow delivery. The core issue stemmed from poor inventory visibility and a lack of synchronization between the actual demand profile and the existing distribution network.
Project
Conducted a rigorous 4-week intensive assessment to diagnose the root causes. The analysis focused on mapping point-of-sale operations, understanding granular demand profiles by region and hub, and synchronizing these demand points across the network. This strategic assessment was designed to inform the blueprint for a future-state distribution model and address limitations in both the planning function and the existing logistics infrastructure.
Outcome
Delivered a clear, comprehensive view of the systemic issues, pinpointing deficiencies in inventory planning and the limitations of the current distribution network. The project provided a well-designed blueprint for next-generation omnichannel capabilities, detailing the required logistics infrastructure and technology updates necessary to meet end-consumer expectations for fast delivery times and ensure optimal inventory levels across the enterprise.
